I Need A Life by Christa

Have you ever felt you needed a life???  Well, check out GURLS talkn blog of Christa, mother of five beautiful children, share a day of being on overload!!!

I need a life

I’ve committed myself to raising my kids and being a stay-at-home wife.

But most days, I sit around with my kids wishing I was somewhere else, someone else, doing something else.

I need a life

I should be able to do what I want on my free time without any strife.

But what is that? What’s free time, when I’m always with my kids and they stay on my mind?

I need a life

Anytime you have to cancel your plans because no one is around.

It’s time to think about some things and write it down.

Not to sound selfish, but clearly it’s time to think about me.

They say you only live once. But why does it feel that my life is on hold, being lived through everyone else’s as if I’m gray and old?

I get that this is what I said I would do.  But why do I feel punished and stuck some days, thinking “what should I do?”

I had friends at work, friends at school, now I barely get out…that’s not cool!

I need a life

It’s a shame to have to write about this, but it’s true and the more I think about it, the more I get pissed.

I try to think long-term and most days it gets me through.

But today, I’m feeling overwhelmed and not sure what to do!

I need a life

I feel like mine is gone.  I bounce to everyone else’s beat except for my own.

Why is it this way because I decided to stay home?

Why do I feel like I’m in a crowded room, yet still quite alone?

I guess this too shall pass.  It’s just this way today.

But Lord knows I’m in some kind of a funk and I need to go and pray.

Some days I don’t want to be a mom or a wife.

You know Lord, I really need a life.

  1. I enjoyed this one! I always think “how does Christa do it?”, when I start to complain to myself! The truth is, it’s tough! Trying to stay home, manage a business, tend to my little one, have dinner on the table, make time for my big kids, my husband, the unlimited phone calls from my friends and family that just want to vent about their life! I feel like this ALL THE TIME… Sometimes my “me time” is the toilet, lol!! I look forward to that time now HA! And even then, my little guy walks to bang on the door now… So now what?!?!?

  2. Yes, sometimes I get so overwhelmed that I have to stand back and remind myself why I’m here, lol. I know what you mean about venting….I often feel like a venting pot–taking it all in. The truth is I love talking to other adults during the day, because it provides me with much desired adult interactions.

While I’m on the phone, I have to constantly mute it and chase behind my kids to ensure nothing is broken and no one gets hurt….all while I’m having this “conversation”. I’ve discovered I prefer face-to-face visits verses the telephone. The visits are easier to manage, lol.

I also use my bathroom as “me time”, but usually it’s interrupted with a crying baby or one of four boys banging on it or bursting through the door, or putting their little fingers underneath the door, lol.

What gets me through most days is I get to see my children grow, help them with their homework, and attend most if not all school functions/meetings. Also, they are growing so fast that soon they will all be attending school all day. Or I have to remind myself, one day they will become adults and leave home all together. 😦 The latter thought motivates and encourages me to make the best of my time with them now and fully prepare them to be successful in the world.

    Thanks for you comment.

  7. I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I encounter a blog that’s equally educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head. The problem is something which too few people are speaking intelligently about. I’m very happy I came across this during my hunt for something relating to this.
