It’s All About G.U.R.L.S.  – Girls Understanding Real Life Situations

Our mission is to inspire, encourage, inform, reform, and relate to issues concerning sisterhood. Furthermore, to interact with readers through our multi-authored blog that displays our various views regarding a wide array of subject matters pertaining to girls and women.

We desire to reach our female audience: the stay-at-home mom, the lonely teenager, the thriving executive, the weary doctor, the struggling student or perhaps YOU.

Candice, Mother of four beautiful girls and wife to a wonderful husband. My motto is to laugh, love, and live:

Laugh when you feel like crying;
Love hard; and
Live like it’s your last moment.

My passion is to see young girls and women free to embrace what’s buried deep inside, relax with my family, and sit by a window, while reading a great book.

Karen, Quiet and reserved mother of three young men; mother-in-love to four beautiful daughters, who have blessed me with fourteen active grand kids; and a divorcee.

I’ve worked over 30 years in the Banking Industry.  Currently, I work within the Cook County Circuit Courts.

I attended Moraine Valley College, Moody Bible Institute and Trinity International University, and completed my studies from and am a graduate of Living Word Bible School and Olivet Nazarene University.  My aspiration is to enroll in a Chaplaincy Program sometime in the near future.

I enjoy participating on two weekly prayer lines as an intercessor, and once a month, I visit with the residents of a local nursing home.

As often as I can, I dine out, attend plays, go to the theater and bowl with family and friends.  Some of my hobbies include decorating and creating unique atmospheres for various events or special occasions.

In my spiritual journey I have served as a Sunday School Teacher, a Children’s Church Director, a Prayer Intercessor, and a member of the following ministry departments:  Housekeeping, Hospitality and Food Pantry.

Most recently, God has poured within me a compassion for the homeless and family unity, and a tenderness for women by offering a listening ear and an open heart for those He places on my path.

Leah, The first thing you’ll notice about me is my “Kool-Aid” smile!  My desire is to give women words of encouragement and bring them hope and comfort in some way.

I work hard, but play even harder as I enjoy my time off when I can let down my hair and laugh at the simple things of life.  I have especially learned not to take myself so seriously.

If you stop by my house for a visit, you’ll see I like a clean and tidy home.  I’ll offer you water or tea to drink, but as soon as you excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and  return, your cup and saucer have been taken up, washed, dried and returned to the kitchen cupboard.  Please don’t be offended, LBVS!

The second thing I hope you’ll notice about me is my love!!!!   “You are known by your love”.

Some of my favorites sayings are:  be intentional, whatever you do, do on purpose; love unconditionally (I’m still working on this one); forgive without hesitation and YES you must forget too; and treat your body as though you believe it is His temple.

My number one passion is teaching.  I have strong administrative gifts and I enjoy sharing with others what God has taught me on how to prosper financially (live within my means and on a budget), physically (work on the external by exercising and eating healthier foods) and spiritually (walking in love with others).

Christa, I am a wife, accounting analyst, and mother of four wonderful boys and a beautiful daughter. I was a stay-at-home mom for almost eight years. During that time, I learned a great deal about Christ, patience, love for family and what it takes to be committed to paying off all of my debt.

Before I stopped working outside of the home, I received an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Accounting. Three years after receiving this degree, I decided to pursue and earned a Masters of Business Administration degree, with a specialization in Corporate Finance, while at home expecting my fourth child.

Since I was a little girl, I’ve loved writing, helping others, and tutoring mathematics.  I am considered a “numbers cruncher”. Recently, I was challenged by a group of lovely ladies about finding my purpose—what God has called me to do in order to fulfill His plans for my life. I decided to be diligent about pursuing His will.

Now is the time for me to get back to my writings.  Also, because I have learned a great deal about budgeting, I want to share my ideas with working and other stay-at-home moms and provide them with suggestions for caring for the household.  Most importantly, I want to be able to encourage them to keep God as the focal point through their busiest days ahead.
